A group of hackers who uploaded the script of a previously unseen Game of Thrones episode and released other data from US television network HBO have released a latest dump of some 3.4 GB containing personal phone numbers of some of the Game of Thrones actors, emails, passwords and a script for the as yet unbroadcast fifth episode of the current series. Company documents and video episodes of other HBO shows were also shared.
The hackers have also released a five-minute video letter in which somebody calling himself as HBO chief executive Richard Plepler to pay an undisclosed multimillion dollar ransom within three days or else risk 1.5TB of shows, including actual episodes of the TV shows Ballers and Room 104 and confidential corporate data being leaked online.
The leaks have been released prior to the broadcast of new Game of Thrones series seven episodes.
However, HBO said that it doesn’t believe its email system as a whole has been compromised, although it did acknowledge the theft of “proprietary information”.
Documents in the latest leak were marked "HBO is falling", according to the Wired news site, and included legal information, employment agreements and other company files.
HBO said it is continuing to investigate and is working with police and cybersecurity experts.
